Edge Homes Design Center Reveal~

This post is sponsored by Edge Homes.

You know how I love a good reveal!  Well, on Thursday we're going to be revealing the new Design Center kitchen at the Edge Homes offices.  I'm sooo excited!

The remodel has been in the works for a while now, and all of the designers (spearheaded by our fearless leader - our design center manager) have had a say in the finishes in the new kitchen.  It is light and bright and beautiful - if I do say so myself.  I'm so proud to be a part of the Edge design team.  What a talented group of women!  But I digress...

The kitchen in progress

For any Utah locals who'd like to come see it in person (and really, if you like kitchens you'll LOVE it) we're holding a ribbon cutting ceremony/open house Thursday, March 27 at 4 pm.  The Edge Homes offices are located at 480 West 800 North Suite 200 in Orem.   There will be refreshments - rumor has it cupcakes will be served - as well as a special treat for the first 50 guests.  Seriously, Edge shindigs are a lot of fun, so if you live close by, come on in!

Getting closer, but there's still more awesomeness to come!

Hope to see you there!  Have a great day~

What Does Home Mean to You?~

I work as an interior designer for Edge Homes, a large home builder here in Utah.  We have a team of five interior designers who work to help the 500 or so buyers that build new homes with Edge each year.  That's a lot of buyers. And our job is to not only help them choose all the finishes and fixtures which will be in their new homes, but also to have a good experience doing so.

A photo sketch of my living room

As any of you who have built a new home know, building a home is a very stressful experience.  And it's far more emotional than a lot of people realize or are prepared for it to be.  Navigating these waters with buyers can be tricky.  But I love it.

Our design team was having a discussion a couple of weeks ago about how to make the process a good experience for our buyers and one of the things that we addressed was expectations that people have for their homes.  I brought up the idea of asking each of my buyers "what does home mean to you?"  Because "Home" itself means very different things to everyone.

To me, home is more than just a shelter.  Home is more than a roof over our heads.  Home should be our retreat from the stress of life.  Home should be our safe haven.  Home should be the one  place in the world where we feel free to be who we really are.  Home should be a place where we can gather as family and friends and enjoy one another's company.

GroopDealz - Deal of the Week~

This post is sponsored by GroopDealz.

Remember  last week I told you that I was going to make my GroopDealz post a weekly feature?  Well, today is this week's installment...

I am currently loving these personalized Easter totes!  What a great idea for the littles!  These canvas totes would be perfect for those outdoor Easter egg hunts.  And they can be personalized so the kiddos can't argue about whose basket is whose.   What? That doesn't happen at your house? ahem.

If you like these, hurry. This sale only lasts until tonight!

Have a great day~

I receive compensation from GroopDealz, but the opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.  I love GroopDealz!

A Gold Elephant - A Dilemma ~

For Christmas each year we play the White Elephant game.  Well, this last Christmas, for my White Elephant gift, I got an elephant.  It was plastic...and gray...but the irony wasn't lost on me.  ;-)

The funniest part of the whole thing, is that I was actually very excited.  You see, I've wanted to paint a toy elephant (or just about any toy animal for that matter) gold for quite a while.  Weird?  Maybe.  But I was inspired by this project from The Thinking Closet that I featured in one of  my Frugal Round-ups.  (What's a Frugal Round-up, you ask?  If you don't know, you better visit one of my Frugal Friday link parties. wink.)

While I was waiting for it to get warm enough outside to spray paint...I made a watercolor of the elephant using the Waterlogue app I talked about here.  Tee hee.

But this last weekend, I finally got around to spray painting...because it was finally warm enough.  And I ended up with this cute little guy.

Now I'm conflicted.  I'm not sure what exactly I want to do with him.  My initial inclination was to add a wire for a photo holder.  But I kind of like him just the way he is.

So, my dear readers, I'm looking to you for input.  What would you do with a plastic gold elephant?  I'd love to know.

Seriously. :-)

Have a great day~

Groopdealz Deal: Cute Signs~

This post is sponsored by GroopDealz.

You may have noticed for the past couple of weeks I've been sharing some great home decor deals that I find on Groopdealz.  Well, I've had so much fun sharing them, that I've decided to make it a weekly feature. After all, who can't use a good deal?  Especially on home decor.  ;-)

I am kind of in love with signs.  So this week's deals are a couple of adorable signs....

First up, if you've been reading my blog for a while you probably know that I'm in the middle of an obsession with gold.  So I immediately fell in love with this gold foil sign...how cute is it?

Or check out this darling rustic sign.  I sooo want to get an old camper and glam it up!  This cute little sign made me think of that.  Doesn't it just remind you of summer?

If you like either one of these, hurry over to Groopdealz because they go fast!

Have a great day and we'll see you tonight for Frugal Friday!

I receive compensation from Groopdealz, but my opinions are 100% mine...I LOVE Groopdealz!!

Easy Watercolor Canvas~

Remember last week when I told you that my sister was coming to celebrate her birthday with me?  Well, we had an amazing time!  We laughed a ton...ate too much...and stayed up too late.  It was so much fun!

Holly and me a few years ago.

If you'll recall I also told you that I had a fun surprise planned for her.  Well check it out!  For her gift, I made her a personalized watercolor canvas.

Using the Waterlogue app, I turned one of our favorite photos from this photo shoot into a watercolor.

Then I had it printed on a wrapped canvas.

It turned out beautifully!  I've already got plans to turn some of my other favorite photos into watercolor canvases.  It seriously couldn't be easier.  And there's no better way to create truly unique and custom gifts.

Have a great day!
