Fun Finds and a Bit of Office Progress~

Hello Lovelies!

I just realized today that I had never shared a couple of fun new things around the house....including the fact that I'm actually getting started on my office. So for today's post, I'm finally going to share!

We're really lucky here in Utah because we have an Overstock.com Outlet (and no, I'm not being paid to tell you about this...I just want to share.)  I paid a visit there several weeks ago, and found some great stuff - for suuuuuper cheap.

We have had white tolix-style chairs at our kitchen table for about a year.  Here's how it looked (can you see them peeking up over the far side of the table? It's the only photo I have) ...

I liked the look very much, but have wanted to pick up some that have more of a bare metal finish to mix up the look a bit.  Trouble was, those chairs can be very expensive and I just couldn't justify it.

What to Expect When You're Expecting and Glidden Dream Nursery Giveaway~

This post is sponsored by Glidden.

If you've ever been pregnant, chances are you've read at least part of the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting".  It's kind of like the pregnant woman's bible. Ha!

Well, I'm sure you've heard that there is a new movie out by the same name. It looks like a lot of fun!

In the movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting (only in theaters), a couple picks out paint colors for their baby’s new nursery. Find paint colors that you and your little one will love with Glidden® Brilliance Collection™ Paint, available at Walmart.

A Few of My Favorite Design Blogs - and a $100 Gift Card Giveaway~

You may recall that I have partnered with Apartment Guide to serve as an Official Apartment Guide Decor Blogger! As an official blogger, I will be sharing articles and ideas for exploring your space, city and style.

Today I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite decor blogs.  Now, let me preface this post by saying that I could easily have shared TONS more because I gain so much inspiration from so many blogs, but I chose to share these five blogs because I felt like each of them offered some great take-aways for renters such as myself.

That said, let's dive in to the good stuff, shall we?

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

Because I wasn't able to do them last week, today is a double-sized edition of both the Fan Favorite and My Frugal Round-up.  So off we go....

First, the Fan Favorite from two weeks ago was this great Ballard Design drying rack knock-off by Inspiration for Moms.

And my Frugal Round-up from two weeks ago...

Jordan Valley Home and Garden Club~

This post is sponsored by The Jordan Valley Home and Garden Club.

Happy Tuesday, my lovelies!

Today, I'm excited to tell you all about a new club here in Utah that is right up my alley (and yours too I'd bet because you're reading my blog!)

The Jordan Valley Conservation Park is launching a new club called the Jordan Valley Home and Garden Club which is specifically aimed at do-it-yourself homeowners!

The Best Way to Store Kitchen Towels~

Do you have a drawer full of dish towels that are threatening to pop out and spill all over the floor each and every time you open it?  You know, kind of like those closets on sitcoms where the unsuspecting guest opens the door only to have basically the entire house fall out on top of them?

Using dish towels is definitely a more economical (and green!) solution than using paper towels, but let's face it, they are a bit unwieldy to store.

So today I thought I'd share with you the BEST way to store kitchen towels...

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday.

I have been dealing with some family issues this week, and so I apologize, but I do not have a Frugal Round-Up for you this week.

I will have a double size Frugal Round-Up and announce the Fan Favorite for both weeks at the next Frugal Friday.

It's been a long week for me, so I thank you for your understanding. My readers rock!!

Some personal issues have come up, and I need to take a break from blogging for a bit to take care of my family...and myself.

I plan to be back soon...

Frugal Friday will go live as usual on Friday although I can't promise that I'll be able to get my Frugal Round-Up ready.   Thanks for understanding.

My readers are fabulous!  Catch up with you soon!

My children are my greatest blessings. After living through the pain of infertility for almost five years before I was able to have my first beautiful baby, I will never ever take for granted the miracle of becoming
their mother.

And I am also forever thankful for my own wonderful mother.  She is, without a doubt, the strongest woman I have ever known.  I am grateful for her listening ear, her guidance and her support.  She is an inspiration.

Happy Mother's Day.

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

It's been such beautiful weather here this week, I've had a hard time staying inside!  But I did enjoy sitting down at the old computer and looking through last week's party.  Let's get to the good stuff, shall we?

The Fan Favorite from last week's party was "Painting To Do and Not To Do" by It's Overflowing! This is like two great posts in one...great painting tips and a pretty furniture redo!!

Now for my Frugal Round-up...

Easy (and Functional) Way to Hide Ugly Computer Cords~

The family computer in our house is located in our kitchen.  As is the case with most desktop computers,  ours has about 1231523523456 cords.  But the thing about the desk in the kitchen is that it isn't set up to accomodate all those cords.  And I had to look at it...every day.  It finally got to the point where I couldn't take the visual mess anymore.  And I decided to do something about it.  And it was SUPER easy.  And I'm going to tell you all about what I did.  And if you have a similar situation with messy cords maybe you can fix it the same way.  So here we go.  :-)

Here is the problem area...

Office Inspiration Mood Board~

This weekend I have been busy working on my home office.  Today I wanted to share with you the office inspiration mood board that I created for the space.

Gray is my favorite color.   So, of course, when I decided to create a space where I was going to need to be inspired...I chose gray as the jumping off point.  I'm keeping the desk very simple...clean lined and white.  I love the idea of a zebra print rug...it adds a bit of whimsy without being over the top.    I'd love to add in a pretty chandelier and I am absolutely in love with this capiz shell version...it looks like a big old flower to me!

I already have the oversize chalkboard that we made for our  last house, and I think it would be a great place for me to keep my "to do" lists.  Of course, what office would be complete without shelving?  And the curtains and pillows for softness.

Can't wait to share the room with you ...so I'll keep on working.

Have a great day~

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!!

Last week's Fan Favorite was this adorable water color stencil by Grow Creative.  What a fabulous idea!!

For my Frugal Round-Up this week, I had Mother's Day on the brain...so I chose three great Mother's Day projects to share with you...

First, aren't these "bathing in chocolate" cookies from More Style than Cash hilarious?? I think they're just adorable and would be a really fun dessert for Mother's Day.

SNAP! Conference Recap and Giveaway Winners~

Okay, so I realize that I'm a little late to the game.  SNAP! was two weeks ago, and I'm finally getting around to putting up my recap post.  Can we all agree to call me "fashionably late"?  Thanks.  I knew you'd understand.  ;-)

SNAP!  was an absolutely fabulous conference.  Tauni and the other amazingly talented women on her team really outdid themselves.  I left the conference being inspired, educated, and having gained some amazing new friends.  I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to attend.
SNAP! was held at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi,Utah which is close to home for me and one of my favorite places!  It's simply beautiful there, and they did a great a job hosting the conference.

First of all, a very happy May Day to you all my lovely readers!  Do you give May baskets?  I love the idea, but I'm not so good at actually doing them. ;-)

And now for my April Monthly Recap...

April was a great month here at The Shabby Nest.  I shared some room reveals and some fun DIY projects to go with those reveals!  I even offered my first free printable!  So here are a few of the highlights.
